DJ Angela, the Rock Jock from radiopilipinas.com will release her first solo album entitled "It's All About Music". The album opens with "Umasa" which is also the carrier single of the album. Umasa features the vocals of Skarlet (original singer of Put3ska) on back up vocals. Most of the songs in the album are composed by DJ Angela. Others are collaboration with such artists as Wendell Quinto of Date with Fate, Marvin Bea of Sigwada Experiment, Beer (2009 Manila Ocean Park Bandstand Champion), prolific composer Jing Enriquez and veteran songwriter Leo Fantone of Leowai.
Dj Angela, a native of San Mateo, Rizal is a graduate of CCA Manila Culinary School. She is backed-up by Marvin Bea on guitars along with the Boxers members - bassist Nolit Abanilla, drummer Mon Valdecantos and keyboardist Samuel Valdecantos. The album is produced by Indiepinoy. It took four years for DJ Angela to finish this album. Included in the album are songs which were from compilation albums "Halo Halo", "Kahit Indie Pasko Ay Magbigayan" and "Bangon: The Yolanda Project". Nolit Abanilla, the producer of the album, is the better half of DJ Angela. She is an active member of the clergy in their church and helps the street children with their feeding program and gift-giving program as well.
Diving into the album’s music, one can easily hear a mixture of Pop, Ballad, New Wave, Country, and Rock into it. “Heaven By Your Side”and “Kasama Ka”, the second and eighth track on the album, respectively, is tinge with New Wave in the orchestra part (ala ‘Pale Fountains’ and ‘The The’) Other notable tracks are “Umasa”, a ‘ballad-esque’ tune with a haunting vocal. In short, listening to the entire album, and to declare the album is superbly produced, is an understatement.
DJ Angela is a regular DJ at radiopilipinas, a pioneer online radio in the Philippines since it’s inception in 2005. She hosts a daily morning show called "It's All About Music" at 9 to 10am. She started her singing career at an early age of 15, singing on singalong bars and restaurants in Marikina and Cainta.
